About Avenue 18 Computer
We have
been providing service, support and
repair for
Windows
based
PCs since
1989, serving Santa Monica and the Westside. We also support
MAC
OS-X and later
versions, performing repairs, integration and hardware
upgrades.
We provide courteous, prompt and
comprehensive
computer and printer service
for home users all the way to medium sized businesses with 25 or more
computers.
You'll find us to be an experienced systems integrator and builder -
many of
our
hand built computers are entering their 7th year of reliable
service, more than

I founded Avenue 18 Computer in 1989 with a few good
clients
and a lot of home
office users who were in need of comprehensive support. Starting out in
high-tech
as
an aerospace technical writer back in 1975 gave me the
foundation to
explore,
analyze and construct logical test and assembly procedures. By
1980
I was looking
to get out into the
field and work directly with people as well as technology.
I
became a Biomed Engineer in July of 1980, performing 24HR field
service
for a dozen L.A. area hospitals, repairing, deploying and testing computerized
heart and Blood pressure monitoring equipment. After about 5
years in
medical
instrumentation service I was ready to start my own
business.
But where?
My desire to work
independently and be in "cutting edge high tech"
led me to work
in a Mom and Pop computer
store
in Culver City starting in 1986.
Soon I was writing
batch files and prepping and fixing systems, working with early
anti-virus tools and
optimizing my customers DOS based computers. I learned a lot from that little
store.
By 1987 I had left to form my own computer consulting company with a few
terrific
corporate accounts, a lot of home users and smart older people, strong
coffee
and
a lot of flyers and cold calls in the mix. Soon we had
offices on
Wilshire Blvd.
and that led to more growth and more
corporate
maintenance accounts.
Since
then I have personally resolved over
12,000 computer problems and
service calls for a huge variety of
individuals and businesses.
Today I and my independent associates provide outstanding service to the
Santa Monica and Westside areas, building and servicing computers, MACS,
laptops and printers with reliability and helpfulness our enduring goal.
